Rare Treasure Discovered at Grove Arcade Store

This is no ordinary coin

Stevenson Rare Coins & Jewelry recently acquired an old coin from a North Carolina family. This is no ordinary coin, though. Passed down for generations, this rare treasure is a mint-condition, 1859 Coronet gold $10 eagle coin, barely touched since it was minted over 150 years ago. The Philadelphia Mint made 16,013 of them, but none have stood the test of time quite like this one.

Numismatic Guaranty Corporation (NGC), one of the most trusted rare coin certifiers in the world, graded the coin “Mint State 64”, the highest grade ever recorded for an 1859 Coronet eagle

This is just one of 24 U.S. gold coins the family brought in a leather pouch to Stevenson Rare Coins & Jewelry.
