About Grove Arcade

Architectural Jewel

Grove Arcade is a beautifully preserved historical building in the heart of Downtown Asheville. Opened in 1929 by E.W. Grove, Grove Arcade was built to celebrate the city he loved so much. It’s rich history, ornate architecture, and eclectic mix of shops and restaurants offer patrons a full-day immersion into Asheville lifestyle and culture.

Take The Tour

Welcome to Grove Arcade’s Architectural Tour. This beautiful building, envisioned by the creator of the Grove Park Inn, incorporates many architectural styles and served as one of the leading commercial buildings in the city in the 1930s. It was closed to the public in 1942 during World War II. In the 1970s, however, public support grew for a return to its original use. And after an extensive renovation, it reopened in 2002. Today, the ground level is filled with some of Downtown Asheville’s most exciting shops, restaurants, and lifestyle services.

Located in the Heart of Downtown Asheville

It is generally conceded that the Arcade Building would do justice to a city many times the size of Asheville. It is by far the finest structure in the South and there are few, if any, finer in the entire country.
